Developer Team Notes #16
Hey there, Smashers!
This is Hongyoung Joo, Executive Producer of SMASH LEGENDS.
We’re already heading into the final month of the year.
I truly apologize for not communicating as actively as I promised when I first stepped into this role.
Please know that we read every piece of feedback and suggestion from our Smashers, and they play a major role in shaping our development direction.
We truly believe that SMASH LEGENDS is a game we build together with our Smashers.
In this Developer Notes, we’d like to share not only the upcoming update, but also a preview of the updates planned for the near future.
Clan Challenge
For a long time, many of you have voiced concerns such as “there’s nothing to do in clans” or “clans don’t feel meaningful.”
To address this, we’ve been preparing a new system called Clan Challenge to revitalize Clan activity and give players more ways to earn currency.
The system lets players complete individual missions and earn rewards, which are then accumulated at the clan level to unlock additional rewards.
Our goal is to make clan activity feel more engaging and meaningful for everyone who participates.
We hope Clan Challenge encourages more players to communicate, cooperate, and enjoy the game together with their fellow Clan members.
Arena Slot Reduction
Recently, many Smashers have raised concerns about declining matchmaking quality and an increase in bot matches.
To help alleviate this, we will be reducing the number of Arena slots from the current six down to four.
This adjustment is intended to keep the matchmaking pool more stable.
The two slots being removed are the ones for Battle Royale and the 3v3 modes (Team Deathmatch, Crown Guard, and All or Nothing).
In particular, Battle Royale
- has long suffered from issues such as players teaming up
- to gain personal advantages,
and due to structural limitations that make a fundamental fix difficult, we decided to include it among the modes being removed.
Regarding improvements to the overall play experience,
many Smashers have long voiced dissatisfaction with
the Dominion map “Magic Bean Field – Magical Time.”
Our gameplay data showed a clear preference against it as well,
so we removed it from the Dominion mode map rotation in a previous update.
We will continue to address anything that harms the play experience
and whenever your feedback is backed by our data, we’ll take action to reflect it in future updates.
Upcoming Update Plans
We understand that our update pace may not fully meet everyone’s expectations.
That’s why, in this developer note, we also want to share several major improvements
that are planned for the near future.
We hope this gives you a quick look at some of the changes we’re preparing moving forward.
1) Trophy Road Expansion and Reward Improvements
We’re planning to expand Trophy Road, which has long offered rewards only up to 20,000 trophies.
We also plan to significantly increase the reward values compared to before.
Since this is something many of you have long requested,
we’re working hard to make these changes truly meaningful and will share them with you as soon as they’re ready.
2) Mastery Display and Sorting Improvements
Since the Trophy system revamp,
many of you have mentioned that it’s become harder to check Mastery,
and we’ve also received consistent requests for sorting by Mastery.
This was an area we admittedly didn’t consider thoroughly enough,
and I want to apologize for that.
We’re currently working quickly to improve how Mastery is displayed and to add new sorting options,
and these changes will be applied soon to make everything much easier to use.
3) Clan Trophy Rankings Added
We’ve also received ongoing feedback that it’s hard to clearly see which Clans are at the top,
making the competitive structure between clans feel lacking.
In particular, many of you have asked for clearer standards to determine Clan rankings
and stronger incentives to encourage Clan competition.
To reflect this feedback, we’re preparing to introduce
a new trophy-based Clan ranking system.
We’re currently preparing new features that will make it easy to clearly identify the top clans in SMASH LEGENDS.
4) Improved Support for New and Returning Players
We’ve heard from many players that there aren’t enough systems in place to help new or returning Smashers settle into the game.
To address this, we’re preparing a permanent event that supports new and returning Smashers,
and we plan to increase currency rewards so players can settle in without feeling overwhelmed.
5) New Mode
We’re also developing a brand-new mode to bring fresh fun and excitement to all Smashers.
We can’t share the details just yet,
but the internal tests have been very promising, and the entire team is excited about it.
We’ll make sure the wait is worth it and deliver an experience you can truly enjoy.
Conclusion
As 2025 quickly comes to a close,
looking back, there were many areas where we fell short and moments where we didn’t fully keep our promises.
But thanks to your feedback and the passion you continue to show,
SMASH LEGENDS keeps growing and improving.
We can’t promise that every suggestion will be implemented right away,
but we want to make it clear that your feedback plays a major role in shaping the direction of the game.
We’ll continue preparing the remaining updates without delay
and work to deliver a more enjoyable SMASH LEGENDS experience.
Thank you, truly, for always being with us.
Wishing all of you a warm and wonderful end of the year.
