Developer Team Notes #14

Hey there, Smashers!

This is Hongyoung Joo, Executive Producer of SMASH LEGENDS.

With this update, there is something I especially want to share with you, so I decided to write the Developer Team Notes.

In this update, we have completely removed the long-standing

Engraving system from the game.

(Of course, we have also prepared appropriate rewards to acknowledge the effort you have put into upgrading your Engravings.)

More than just removing a feature, this decision

comes from careful consideration of the direction we want SMASH LEGENDS to take moving forward.

Why We Removed the Engraving System

The Engraving system has long served as one pillar of character growth.

However, its presence created the following issues:

  • Difficulty in acquiring Engraving Pieces
  • A high entry barrier for new players
  • A structural growth gap between established and new players
  • Unnecessary complexity
  • Reduced accessibility to Rune content

These issues could not simply be solved by adjusting the supply of Engraving Pieces.

More importantly, through the consistent feedback from our Smashers,

we also came to clearly recognize the gravity of these issues.

To make the game more intuitive and accessible,

we decided to remove the Engraving system with this update.

Respecting Your Efforts

Of course, we understand that many of you have invested

significant time and resources into upgrading your Engravings.

To ensure that your efforts are not in vain,

we carefully considered how to provide appropriate compensation for the removal of the Engraving system.

In this update, we will be giving appropriate compensation.

You can find the full details of the compensation in the update notes released alongside this announcement.

Conclusion

The removal of the Engraving system

is the first step toward making SMASH LEGENDS a more intuitive and player-friendly game.

Moving forward, we will continue working

to help new players settle in,

reduce unnecessary complexity,

and create a structure that allows more players to enjoy SL for a long time.

We have also been gradually expanding clan-related features.

We plan to strengthen what were once underutilized clan functions

so that Smashers can communicate and cooperate more actively through clans.

This will provide a solid foundation for new players to naturally settle in

and offer richer opportunities for interaction and cooperation within the game.

SMASH LEGENDS is a game we build together with our Smashers.

Your thoughts and feedback will continue to be a driving force in our journey ahead.

Please keep sharing your honest voices with us at any time.

We will do our best to bring you even better news in the next Developer Team Notes.

Thank you.
